Basmati rice is a rice widely known not only for its flavour, but for its fragrance. It is remarkably long for a rice and becomes longer still when cooked. When cooked, the rice is lighter and more fluffy than standard white rice and does not stick together.

Preparation:
There are many different ways to cook rice and this one is really simple: Add 60g of rice per person to a large pan of boiling water. Cook on a medium heat for 12-15 minutes. Drain well, cover and let stand for 3 minutes then lightly fork through the grains and serve.
